Man charged with DUI after crash ignites vehicle fire, police report.

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A man was charged after a DUI incident that occurred early April 15 in Ephrata Township.

The incident took place at 12:13 a.m. in the 800 block of East Main Street. Authorities said Christopher Ulrich, 49, was driving a Wrangler when he lost control, striking a crossing sign and crossing the center median. The vehicle subsequently caught fire after the crash.

Ulrich was uninjured but exhibited signs of impairment, according to police. A breath test indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .168%, more than twice the legal limit in Pennsylvania.

He has been charged with two DUI misdemeanors and cited for three traffic offenses, according to online court documents. Ulrich is awaiting his preliminary arraignment.
