Eagan Man Charged in Fatal Crash Involving Pedestrian

EAGAN, MN—A 58-year-old man has been charged following a fatal incident that occurred early Saturday morning.

Rolando Miranda Martinez faces one count of leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death. Eagan Police responded to the collision at approximately 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of Cliff Road and Nichols Road, where they discovered 40-year-old Leslie Anne Youngberg unresponsive. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was .

According to witnesses, Youngberg was walking with a companion when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle that fled the scene. Court documents reveal investigators identified the vehicle as a white Honda CRV with substantial front-end damage, belonging to Miranda Martinez.

Authorities located Miranda Martinez and the vehicle at his residence around 11:15 a.m. He was apprehended after attempting to leave the scene in an Uber. During questioning, Miranda Martinez acknowledged hitting “something” but denied consuming alcohol prior to the incident.

As part of the investigation, authorities executed search warrants for Miranda Martinez's phone and a blood sample. Results are pending.
