FRIENDSHIP, ME – A Maine State Prison guard died in a motor vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m. on Route 17. Authorities confirmed the involvement of a single vehicle, which lost control and overturned. The guard, identified as a 34-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders from the Knox County Sheriff's Office and local fire departments attended the scene. Medical aid was provided, but the victim's injuries were fatal. The vehicle was towed from the site, and Route 17 experienced temporary lane closures during the investigation.
