A 9-year-old girl from Waterloo died in a utility vehicle crash in South Dakota on July 4.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m. near Pierre, involving a 2008 Polaris Ranger 700, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. The girl’s name has not been released.
The driver rolled the vehicle while attempting a turn, authorities said. Two other passengers, a 37-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, sustained no injuries and minor injuries, respectively. None of the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.
