Iowa Bus Crash Claims Life of Former Rapid City Baseball Player.

CALHOUN COUNTY, IOWA — A crash early Tuesday morning resulted in the death of a former athlete from Rapid City Stevens High School.

Carter Johnson, 20, a former outfielder for Iowa Lakes Community College's baseball team, was killed when the team bus flipped near Twin Lakes, approximately 110 miles northwest of Des Moines. The team was en route to Arkansas at the time of the incident.

The bus contained 33 people. According to authorities, there were no other vehicles involved in the crash. All remaining passengers sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious and were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash, and further details are expected as the investigation proceeds.
