GRAND COUNTY, Colo. — Authorities are investigating a head-on crash that killed five members of a family on Highway 9 near Kremmling on August 4, 2025.
According to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), a northbound Ford F-150 crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a GMC Yukon just after midnight. Both vehicles caught fire on impact.
First responders attempted to rescue the occupants of the Yukon, but all five were pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased are identified as 2-year-old Andres Cabral-Banuelos, 5-year-old Manuel Cabral-Banuelos, 12-year-old Maria Cabral-Banuelos, 30-year-old Andrea Banuelos-Salazar, and 34-year-old Manuel Cabral-Torres. The driver of the F-150, a 25-year-old man from Parker, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Following an investigation, CSP reported that its findings have been forwarded to the 14th Judicial District Attorney's Office in Grand Junction for review and potential charges. A CSP spokesperson advised that all inquiries regarding charges should be directed to the DA's office.
