A 17-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed in Indianola on Sunday, Sept. 27, at approximately 6 p.m., authorities confirmed.
Trenton Snodgrass of Indianola was hit by a vehicle in the 400 block of West 18th Place. According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, despite lifesaving efforts from emergency responders, Snodgrass was pronounced dead at the scene prior to the arrival of a medical helicopter.
The driver of the vehicle, a 15-year-old from Ankeny, attempted to brake but could not stop in time. The crash report notes that Snodgrass was walking in the roadway.
The Iowa State Patrol is leading the investigation into the incident.
Funeral services for Snodgrass are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3, in Indianola. He is survived by his parents and siblings, according to his obituary.
