BLENDON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A wrong-way crash on southbound I-270 early Thursday left one person dead and two critically injured.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, the collision occurred around 12:45 a.m. north of the Dempsey Road overpass. Two people were transported to area hospitals in critical condition.
Authorities said one person, the driver of a red Chevy Cruze traveling the wrong way, was pronounced dead at 1:32 a.m.
Investigators said the Cruze, heading north in the southbound lanes, struck a black Audi A3 traveling southbound head-on.
Deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Columbus Police officers, and City of Westerville Fire and medics responded and provided medical aid.
A portion of I-270 remained closed as crews cleared the roadway. The crash remains under investigation.
