OKLAHOMA CITY – Several Guthrie Public School students and a staff member were injured in a head-on collision late Friday night on State Highway 33 and Coyle Road, authorities said.
The group was returning from the Oklahoma State football game in Stillwater, where they had worked a concessions stand as a fundraiser for the Guthrie High School Choir. The school SUV was carrying six students and their choir director, who was driving.
Four individuals, including the driver, were transported by ambulance to OU Medical Center, Integris Baptist, and Stillwater Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Two students were released from the hospital that night, while three others were released to their parents at the scene, according to district officials.
Two additional vehicles were involved in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Guthrie Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson arrived at the scene shortly before midnight, accompanied by other school leaders. Dr. Simpson noted that the outcome could have been much worse, given the severity of the crash.
