AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A fuel truck crashed into ABC 7 studios early Sunday morning following a hit-and-run incident.
The collision occurred around 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Southeast 11th Avenue and Pierce Street. Authorities reported that a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck ran a red light, resulting in a crash with the fuel truck traveling south on Pierce Street. The impact pushed the pickup over the curb, through the station's security fence, and into the parking lot, ultimately striking a steel support beam at the northwest corner of the building.
Witnesses noted that debris from the security fence penetrated a window of the station. Fortunately, the fuel truck driver was unharmed.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, along with two passengers, exited the vehicle and fled the scene. Police have identified the driver, and his parents arrived shortly after he contacted them regarding the incident. An investigation is ongoing, and no confirmed injuries have been reported.
