KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A former Capital High School baseball player suffered serious injuries in a crash involving a suspected drunk driver Thursday night.
Dean Kelly, 17, sustained a dislocated hip and a deep laceration to his leg, as confirmed by a social media post from the Capital High School baseball program. The post indicated that Kelly may require surgery after being trapped in his vehicle for an extended period before being rescued.
Authorities said they were alerted to the accident around 10 p.m., but the exact time of the crash remains unclear. The baseball program is awaiting further updates on Kelly's condition.
