CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Ford has issued a recall for nearly 1.4 million F-150 trucks due to a potential safety hazard related to transmission issues.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration confirmed a recall of 1,392,935 Ford F-150 trucks from model years 2015, 2016, and 2017. The issue involves a malfunction that can cause the transmission to unexpectedly downshift into second gear, attributed to a loss of signal between the transmission range sensor and the powertrain control module.
Affected owners are advised to take their vehicles to authorized dealers for a complimentary software update of the powertrain control module.
According to the manufacturer, interim notification letters will be sent to owners beginning April 27, 2026, with further details on the final solution expected in July 2026.
