Several flights to and from Ohio were canceled Monday, March 23, after a deadly collision shut New York's LaGuardia Airport late Sunday.

USA TODAY reported the pilot and copilot were killed and dozens were injured when an Air Canada Express CRJ-900 struck a Port Authority Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting truck on a runway just before 11:40 p.m. Sunday.

According to Kathryn Garcia, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the ARFF vehicle was responding to a separate United Airlines flight that had reported an odor issue.

LaGuardia was closed until 2 p.m. Monday, according to USA TODAY.

According to airport flight-status pages, Cleveland Hopkins (CLE), Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky (CVG) and John Glenn Columbus (CMH) reported multiple cancellations and delays on Delta and American routes to and from LGA as of 11:54 a.m. ET.

Airports advised travelers to check airline and airport websites for the latest flight information.
