Fatal bus crash claims life of 12-year-old cyclist

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A school bus crash in the Northwest Valley on Monday claimed the life of 12-year-old Haylee Ryan, according to authorities.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:23 p.m. as Haylee was riding her bicycle westbound on Tropical Parkway, close to Leid Stem Academy. A school bus traveling in the same direction collided with her, throwing Haylee into a parked car. She was later at a local hospital.

Emergency response teams arrived promptly at the scene, but despite efforts, Haylee's injuries were fatal. Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Haylee, a 7th grader, was remembered by family and friends at a memorial established at the crash site. Her mother, Meghan Ryan, described her daughter as vibrant and creative, emphasizing her love for art and robotics.

Meghan shared her family's emotional struggles over recent months, including significant personal challenges. They have launched a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral expenses.

“Community support has been crucial for us during this time,” Ryan stated, expressing gratitude for those who have reached out to help.
