Westerville, Ohio — A Columbus woman, Danielle Henry, faces multiple charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughter, following the fatal incident involving DoorDash driver Ibrahim Diakite, 31, on October 22.
According to authorities, the situation began with a minor collision in a shopping center parking lot. Witnesses reported that Diakite was struck while making deliveries. After the crash, Henry allegedly fled the scene, prompting Diakite to chase her to the intersection of Schrock and Cooper Roads.
Charging documents state that Diakite attempted to prevent Henry from leaving by standing in front of her SUV. Authorities reported that Henry accelerated, resulting in Diakite being thrown onto the hood of her vehicle. He was subsequently pulled under and dragged between 300 and 600 feet before being struck again.
Emergency services responded, but Diakite succumbed to his injuries shortly after. Henry, who was driving a stolen vehicle and had an open arrest warrant at the time, was apprehended days later. Records indicate she has a criminal history spanning nearly 15 years, including convictions for assault and theft.
Family members voiced their devastation, stating Diakite had moved to Columbus from West Africa to improve his life. “He was a hard-working young man, full of life,” said his aunt, Fatoumata.
Henry is scheduled to appear in Franklin County Municipal Court next week. Diakite's family plans to attend, emphasizing the importance of ensuring justice.
