CAPE COD, MA — A 23-year-old man was taken to the hospital after being found near a beach following the discovery of a floating SUV on Sunday morning.
Falmouth police reported that the Mazda CX-5, which sustained heavy front-end damage, was located at approximately 6:53 a.m. at Clinton Avenue Beach, with no occupants inside. The man was later located at the Tides Hotel about 90 minutes later and is in stable condition.
Authorities noted that someone attempted to break into the nearby Falmouth Yacht Club, where discarded property was found. A heavy-duty towing company removed the SUV from the water.
Criminal charges are anticipated, and the crash remains under investigation. Police did not confirm if weather conditions contributed to the incident. A nor'easter brought rain and strong winds to the area over the weekend, according to reports.
