ENGLEWOOD, Fla. — A woman died in a single-vehicle crash early Friday morning in Englewood, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The incident occurred at 4:15 a.m. on November 28, when a 51-year-old Englewood woman was driving a sedan north on Pine Street. FHP reported that she was traveling at a high rate of speed approaching the intersection with Crestwood Road.
Officials stated the driver failed to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to veer off the road into a grass shoulder and parking lot entrance at 75 Pine Street. The sedan then collided with a light pole and a fire hydrant before overturning, FHP said.
Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by FHP.
