HONOLULU (WKRC) — An 84-year-old woman died after her vehicle fell from a high-rise parking garage in downtown Honolulu on Friday.
The Honolulu Police Department responded to the incident at Bishop Street around 2:30 p.m. Authorities said the woman was driving on the fifth floor when her car struck a retaining wall, broke through it, and fell five stories, landing on its roof on the sidewalk. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported seeing an overturned SUV with extensive damage. Additionally, there was visible damage to a fourth-floor railing above the crash site.
Authorities have not released the victim's name or provided details regarding the cause of the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
