EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah (KUTV) — The City of Eagle Mountain has begun addressing persistent traffic safety issues following multiple incidents at a resident’s property.
Authorities reported that Cameron Jensen has experienced numerous vehicle collisions with his fence and mailbox, prompting a city-wide traffic study assessing over 30 locations, including Cedar Pass Ranch, where Jensen resides.
According to Assistant City Engineer David Salazar, the area’s roads were formerly county roads and do not adhere to current city standards. “We are considering options like driver feedback signs and improved signage,” Salazar stated.
Jensen’s fence has been repaired following a recent crash, but community concerns about traffic speed remain unresolved. “This is an every month conversation,” Jensen expressed, emphasizing the need for speed mitigation strategies.
Previous incidents have led residents to use Jensen’s neighborhood as a shortcut to avoid congestion in Eagle Mountain. Salazar underscored the importance of collecting data before implementing changes, as visibility is hindered by the lack of traditional street lighting.
“Especially in the evening, it can be difficult to recognize sharp turns and drop-offs,” Salazar added. The traffic study is expected to conclude in October, offering potential solutions for safety enhancements.
