LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A fatal crash involving an e-bike occurred Saturday evening at Lourdes Avenue and Paseo Del Prado near West Sahara Avenue.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported the incident happened around 5:08 p.m. A 36-year-old man riding an e-bicycle traveled westbound on Lourdes Avenue when he failed to yield at a T-intersection.
According to evidence and video surveillance, the rider proceeded into the intersection, veering right and striking a concrete curb and sidewalk before colliding with a cinderblock wall. The impact projected the rider and bike onto the sidewalk, where they came to rest.
Emergency personnel transported the rider to UMC Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts. Authorities noted that a fatality number will not be assigned until the case undergoes review at state and federal levels.
The LVMPD Collision Investigation Section is currently handling the investigation.
