DURANT, Okla. (KOKH) — Authorities are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on April 9 in Bryan County, resulting in the death of a 43-year-old man.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the crash took place around 9:30 a.m. near Highway 78 and Lake Durant Road. Two vehicles were traveling northbound on Highway 78 when one vehicle attempted to turn into a private driveway.
As this maneuver was underway, Terry Lee Murphy, Jr., 43, reportedly attempted to pass the turning vehicle on the shoulder. His vehicle collided with the original car, causing it to roll over, OHP officials stated.
Murphy was ejected from his vehicle and later succumbed to his injuries. Emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
