Driver Injured in Crash Involving Water District Boxes and Power Pole, Impairment Suspected.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A 31-year-old driver was with potentially life-threatening injuries following a crash early Sunday on South Eastern Avenue, according to Las Vegas police.

At approximately 3:42 a.m., the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a collision involving multiple fixed objects on South Eastern Avenue, north of East Eldorado Lane and near East Warm Springs Road.

Evidence and witness statements indicate the driver of a 2021 Compass was traveling northbound when they failed to maintain their lane, striking the raised center median. The continued over the median, crossing into southbound lanes before hitting the west curb of Eastern Avenue.

The vehicle continued along the sidewalk, colliding with several Vegas Valley Water District boxes and a large NV Energy wooden power pole. The driver sustained significant injuries and was transported to Sunrise Hospital, where doctors confirmed the injuries were potentially life-threatening. Authorities suspect impairment as a factor in the crash.

The incident is under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section.
