COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A hit-skip incident on Interstate 71 early Sunday morning left a driver critically injured, according to Columbus Police.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:53 a.m. when a Nissan Murano traveling southbound from the State Route 104 entrance ramp was rear-ended by an unknown vehicle. The impact pushed the Nissan off the roadway and into the treeline on the west side.
The driver of the unknown vehicle did not stop to assist or exchange information, continuing southbound on I-71. Moderate traffic was reported during the incident.
Authorities confirmed that the driver of the Nissan sustained critical injuries. The Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit is currently investigating the crash.
