Fallen Debris Closes S. King Street Near Straub Benioff Medical Center
HONOLULU, HAWAII — S. King Street was closed on October 2 at approximately 7:30 p.m. due to debris falling from the construction site of the Straub Benioff Medical Center.
According to authorities, the loud crash was audible from the KITV building directly across the street. Emergency responders arrived on the scene but confirmed that no injuries occurred as a result of the incident.
The area remains barricaded as crews assess the situation and clear the debris. Witnesses reported seeing construction materials scattered across the roadway.
As of now, the Honolulu Police Department is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have not indicated when S. King Street will reopen to traffic.
