Team Penske driver David Malukas was transported to a local hospital following a crash during IndyCar Series practice at Nashville Superspeedway on July 18.
The incident occurred around 10:41 a.m. CT when the No. 12 car lost control in turn 2, making hard left-side contact with the wall.
“David Malukas is being transported to a local hospital via private vehicle for further evaluation and testing,” stated IndyCar deputy medical director Dr. Angela Fiege.
This is not Malukas's first incident at Nashville; he also suffered a hard crash during the Music City Grand Prix on Aug. 31, 2025, requiring helicopter transport for evaluation.
Malukas, 24, currently ranks fourth in the points standings in his first season with Penske, with three runner-up finishes, including at the Indianapolis 500.
Qualifying for the Music City Grand Prix is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT, but Malukas's status for that session remains unclear.
