A cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries Aug. 9 just before 6 p.m. in Burlington after a pickup towing a boat struck her.

Deputies were dispatched just before 6 p.m. Aug. 9 to the 5400 block of Limaburg Road in Burlington for a crash involving a pickup and a cyclist, according to the Boone County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said a 2026 Sierra driven by Gregory Lefevre, 54, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, was traveling south on Limaburg Road while towing a boat.

As Lefevre attempted to pass a cyclist traveling in the same direction, he misjudged the clearance, resulting in a collision, authorities said.

The cyclist, Jessica E. Valentin Cruz, 41, of Florence, was to UC Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Another cyclist riding with Valentin Cruz was not struck or injured. His name and age were not released.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating. No additional information about potential charges was released.
