UPDATE | Sept. 30, 2025 – Power has been restored to Xcel Energy customers near Westminster after a vehicle crash. According to the company's outage map, the affected roadway has reopened.
Earlier, over 1,500 customers across Denver, Federal Heights, Arvada, and Westminster experienced outages, with 284 still without power as of 9:58 p.m.
Westminster Police reported that two vehicles collided at Federal Boulevard and 81st Avenue, with one striking an electrical box. One driver fled the scene and remains unlocated. No serious injuries were reported.
The northbound lanes of Federal Boulevard are closed for investigation. Xcel crews were dispatched to assess the damage and estimated restoration by 10:45 p.m.
