CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Two Kenwood Middle School students were killed and several others injured in a school bus crash on Friday, March 27, near Jackson, Tenn.
According to authorities, the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System bus was transporting 25 students and five staff members to the Toyota Hub City Grand Prix when it crashed. Emergency responders reported multiple injuries at the scene.
Local medical units transported the injured to nearby hospitals. The condition of those injured has not been released. Towing operations were conducted to remove the bus from the roadway.
Witnesses reported chaotic scenes as parents rushed to the site. A candlelight vigil was held at the school on Saturday evening to honor the victims and console grieving families.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and authorities have not confirmed details regarding potential contributing factors.
