A juvenile was airlifted to Maine Medical Center following a bicycle collision with a fire truck in Harpswell on Friday evening.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:54 p.m. when two juveniles riding bicycles reportedly failed to stop at the intersection of Cundy's Harbor Road and Harpswell by the Sea, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.
A Cundy's Harbor Fire Department squad truck, traveling south on Cundy's Harbor Road, was struck by one of the bicycles, resulting in serious injuries to the child. The injured juvenile was transported to Maine Medical Center by LifeFlight of Maine.
Authorities stated that the fire truck operator attempted to avoid the collision but could not do so. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
