LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — One person is dead following an ATV crash in Mohave Valley early Saturday morning.
Authorities with the Mohave County Sheriff's Office responded at approximately 5:01 a.m. to the north intersection of Kingsley Street and Dike Road. Upon arrival, deputies found an overturned ATV and two passengers who reported that a third individual was pinned underneath.
Rescue efforts revealed that the victim, 39-year-old Richard Anthony Cruz, had succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. Both passengers were treated for minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.
According to investigators, the passengers had consumed alcohol prior to the ride. Witness statements indicate that Cruz was operating the ATV at a high speed when he lost control, causing the vehicle to flip and eject the occupants.
Authorities believe that alcohol, speed, and the absence of safety restraints may have contributed to the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
