Three Dead, Two Injured in Ault Crash Involving Alcohol, Authorities Confirm
AULT, Colo. – Three men died and two others were injured in a rollover crash on Weld County Road 80 on Saturday, according to Colorado State Patrol.
The vehicle, a Chevrolet traveling westbound, rolled several times, ejecting all five occupants. Cash Allen Rinker, 20, and Jack David Dirksen, 19, both of Eaton, and Cooper Christopher Nider, 19, of Greeley, were pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by the Weld County Coroner.
The 20-year-old male driver remains in critical condition, while a 19-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries. Authorities found open and unopened alcoholic beverages in the vehicle, indicating that alcohol may have been a factor. Speed and impairment were also noted as contributing factors, but the official cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Emergency responders from local agencies arrived at the scene, and lane closures were implemented as crews worked. Towing services were also dispatched to clear the wreckage.
