ROCKFORD, IL (May 28, 2025) — A 29-year-old man died following a crash on the northeast side of Rockford early Wednesday morning.
According to Rockford Police, the incident occurred just before 1 a.m. at the intersection of N. Alpine Rd. and Guilford Rd./Brendenwood Rd. A preliminary investigation indicates the man was driving a vehicle that struck another car before colliding with a light pole.
Emergency responders extricated the driver and transported him to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have not disclosed the conditions of any other individuals involved.
All lanes of N. Alpine Rd. were closed for several hours during the investigation, reopening by 8 a.m. Road crews were seen removing the damaged pole at the crash site.
