STOUGHTON, Mass. —
A two-car crash early Wednesday morning in Stoughton, Massachusetts, claimed the life of a North Carolina man, authorities said.
At approximately 6:15 a.m., police responded to a collision involving a Cadillac and a Toyota Highlander near 1463 Turnpike St. (Route 139). The Cadillac carried two men, while the Highlander was driven by a Quincy woman.
All three individuals were transported to Boston Medical Center. Michael Unman, 59, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, was pronounced dead at the hospital; his passenger, a Pennsylvania man, sustained serious injuries.
The Quincy woman reported that she was returning home from an overnight shift at a local hotel at the time of the incident. She regained consciousness following the crash.
The roadway remained closed for several hours due to debris, including wires from a damaged telephone pole. Both vehicles were towed to a secure facility, and an investigation is ongoing.
Authorities initially stated that the deceased victim was from Pennsylvania.
