INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A woman died in a crash involving a Kia and a semitractor-trailer early Thursday on I-70, according to Indiana State Police.
The unidentified woman was traveling in the Kia, which collided with the parked semi on the right shoulder of the eastbound ramp from Sam Jones Expressway to I-70, east of Indianapolis International Airport, around 4:30 a.m. Authorities reported that the Kia lost control, struck the concrete median, and then veered across all lanes before hitting the truck.
Excessive speed is suspected to have contributed to the loss of control, though the investigation is ongoing, police said.
The ramp was closed for nearly five hours, reopening at approximately 9:15 a.m. Thursday. Emergency response teams were on scene, and no further injuries were reported.
