INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A woman died early Thursday in a crash involving a sedan and a semitractor-trailer on I-70 in Indianapolis, according to the Indiana State Police.

Authorities have not released the woman's identity, pending notification of her family. The crash was reported at 4:30 a.m. on the ramp from Sam Jones Expressway to I-70 eastbound.

Investigators stated the 2011 was traveling east on I-70 when it lost control, struck the concrete median barrier, and then veered right into a parked semi on the shoulder. The semi driver had exited the vehicle prior to the collision.

Authorities believe excessive speed may have contributed to the driver's loss of control; however, the investigation is ongoing.

The ramp was closed for approximately five hours and reopened at 9:15 a.m. Emergency services and tow crews responded to the scene.
