A motorcyclist died in a crash at 8:25 a.m. Friday on Route 1 in Hancock.
The incident occurred near Washington Junction Road when 44-year-old Jim Hoyt of Sullivan, traveling westbound, crossed the centerline and collided with an eastbound pickup truck. Hoyt, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene. The pickup truck driver sustained minimal injuries.
Authorities closed Route 1 during the emergency response, which has since been cleared. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
