TRUSSVILLE, Ala. — A crash involving two semi-trucks on Interstate 59 in Trussville, Alabama, resulted in the deaths of a Mississippi family on Tuesday morning.
According to authorities, the victims have been identified as Dquarious Marqua Butler, 29, his wife Dominque Mariona Butler, 32, and their 5-year-old daughter, Nailani Butler. The family, from Liberty, Mississippi, was traveling in their commercial truck when it collided with another semi around 7:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of an ALDOT construction zone.
Dquarious and Nailani were pronounced dead at the scene, while Dominque was transported to UAB Hospital, where she died shortly after. Three other children were injured and taken to Children's of Alabama; their ages and the extent of their injuries have not been disclosed.
Trussville Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, with assistance from Center Point Fire District. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is currently investigating the incident.
