One dead in motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 43, Northport authorities confirm
A 41-year-old man died in a motorcycle accident on U.S. Highway 43 on Sept. 28, according to Northport Police Department officials.
The wreck occurred around 1:50 p.m. in the 5600 block of U.S. Highway 43, involving a Yamaha motorcycle and a GMC Yukon SUV. The motorcycle driver, Jacob Edward Parris, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. No other injuries were reported.
Northport Police, Fire and Rescue, and NorthStar Ambulance responded to the scene in the northbound lanes. The police department's Traffic Reconstruction Unit is conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident, and no criminal charges are anticipated, according to Assistant Chief Keith Carpenter.
Following the fatal crash, all lanes of U.S. Highway 43 were closed for approximately two hours for investigation. The road reopened by 5:30 p.m. Sept. 28.
Authorities advised the public to avoid the area and find alternate routes during the closure.
