One person was injured in a crash on the Missouri River Bridge at Jefferson City Wednesday night, prompting the closure of two northbound lanes.

According to the Jefferson City Police Department, the accident occurred at 9:11 p.m. A 61-year-old woman from Columbia was driving a Nissan Frontier towing a utility trailer when she attempted to change lanes and collided with a 2024 Buick Encore driven by a 25-year-old from Holts Summit.

The impact caused the Buick to strike the outer wall of the bridge, and the Nissan also made contact with it. A third vehicle, a 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage, driven by a 46-year-old man from Fulton, was following the Nissan and subsequently hit debris from the trailer.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and worked for approximately 45 minutes to clear the roadway and reopen the lanes. The driver of the Nissan was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The incident has been documented, and authorities are conducting an investigation.
