KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A head-on collision early Tuesday morning in Kanawha County resulted in one death.
According to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to the 5800 block of Kanawha Boulevard East at approximately 3:40 a.m. for reports of the crash, involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle.
Officials confirmed that both vehicles incurred extensive damage, and the driver of the passenger vehicle was declared dead at the scene.
As of 3:49 a.m., Route 60 (Kanawha Boulevard East) was closed while emergency responders conducted an investigation and cleared debris from the roadway.
Authorities advise motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes. The incident is currently under investigation by the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
