ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — A 15-year-old boy died from drowning after a accident in Hardin County on Saturday night.

According to the Kentucky State Police, the crash occurred before 9 p.m. at 860 Bewley Hollow Road. Authorities reported that a vehicle flipped upside down in a flooded creek with three individuals inside.

The driver, identified as 44-year-old David Rhodes of Elizabethtown, lost control of the vehicle, trapping him and two minors. Ethan Rhodes, the 15-year-old victim, was at the hospital. The coroner confirmed his cause of death as drowning, attributing it to high water levels from recent rainfall.

Both David Rhodes and the surviving minor were treated and released. During the investigation, police determined that David Rhodes was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. He has since been arrested and charged with DUI and first-degree assault.

Authorities have not disclosed the specific relationship between David Rhodes and the minors involved.
