A driver died after what authorities said was a high-speed, single-vehicle rollover on southbound Interstate 270 near State Route 161 Saturday morning in Columbus.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, a white 2019 BMW X3 lost control around 10:07 a.m. while approaching SR 161.
The SUV slid off the west side of the highway, struck a wall and a concrete sign support, and rolled onto its roof.
Authorities said no other vehicles were involved. Westerville medics transported the driver to Mount Carmel East Hospital in critical condition, where the person was pronounced dead at 10:41 a.m.
Crews remained on scene midday clearing the wreckage to reopen the southbound lanes.
The crash remains under investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.
