MAKIKI, Hawaii (Island News) — A 30-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle on the H-1 Freeway westbound on June 24, 2026.

According to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS), the incident occurred in the Makiki area near the Alexander Street on-ramp shortly after 3 p.m. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The crash prompted the closure of three lanes on the freeway from Alexander Street to Keeaumoku Street, with all lanes reopening by 3:57 p.m.
