THAYER COUNTY, Neb. — A Superior man died following a crash between two semis in Chester Thursday morning.
According to the Thayer County Sheriff's Office, the collision occurred just after 10 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 8 and Highway 81. Deputies, alongside the Nebraska State Patrol and Chester Fire and Rescue, responded to the scene.
Authorities reported that a westbound semi, driven by 17-year-old Everette Ziegler, was stopped at the northeast corner of the intersection when he proceeded into the path of a southbound semi. Ziegler, who was unrestrained, was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the southbound semi was restrained and sustained minor injuries. Investigations are ongoing, and no further details have been released regarding lane closures or vehicle towing.
