Columbus, Ohio — A motorist died Friday, June 19, after a wheel detached from a semitrailer and struck a vehicle on I-70 downtown.
According to the Columbus Division of Police, the victim's family had not been notified as of 12:07 p.m. ET Sunday, June 21.
Authorities said the semitrailer driver had not been charged.
Police said portions of I-70 in the downtown corridor were closed during the emergency response and initial investigation.
The victim's name and additional crash details were not released. The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
