WRIGHT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Early Friday morning, a wrong-way crash on I-96 resulted in three fatalities, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.

The collision occurred at approximately 3:25 a.m. near Eastbound I-96, just west of exit 23, close to Marne. Authorities reported that a vehicle was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane and collided with another vehicle, both identified as mid-size SUVs.

Emergency response teams, including Traffic Services and deputies with drone units, were on the scene to document the incident and assist with roadway clearance. Traffic lanes were closed during the investigation, and no additional injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to gather more information about the circumstances leading to the crash.
