KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. – A woman died in a collision on Highway 39 near Highway 140 at 11:21 a.m. on June 16.
According to Oregon State Police, 71-year-old Lenayah Priscilla King of Bonanza was driving a silver Chrysler PT Cruiser when she attempted a left turn from a stop sign and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. Her vehicle was struck by a southbound white Kia Sedona.
King was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Kia, 38-year-old Fatima Abrica Torres of Merrill, and two juvenile passengers sustained minor injuries and were transported to a hospital.
Authorities indicated that the highway remained impacted for approximately 30 minutes while officers conducted an investigation. Klamath County Fire District #1 and the Oregon Department of Transportation were on-site to assist.
