TOMS RIVER — A head-on collision involving two vehicles occurred on Route 37 near the intersection with Oak Avenue on June 17 at approximately 6:15 p.m., resulting in serious injuries to three individuals, authorities said.
According to the Toms River Police Department, one vehicle, a 2010 Honda Civic, was traveling westbound when it collided with a 2015 Ford F-150 heading eastbound. The driver of the Honda, a 22-year-old male, and the two passengers sustained critical injuries and were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
The driver of the Ford, 34 years old, was treated for minor injuries at the scene. Emergency responders, including the Ocean County EMS, arrived shortly after the incident was reported.
Authorities closed two westbound lanes of Route 37 for approximately three hours while the scene was cleared and an investigation was conducted. Towing services removed both vehicles from the roadway.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time, officials confirmed.
