Florida AG Issues Subpoenas After Fatal St. Lucie County Crash
TAMPA, Fla. (CBS12) — Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced on Thursday that his office issued criminal and civil subpoenas to White Hawk Carriers, the employer of a truck driver involved in a St. Lucie County crash that killed three people.
The driver, Harjinder Singh, allegedly made an illegal U-turn, leading to the fatal incident. Uthmeier stated that Singh was unlicensed to operate a commercial vehicle, lacked English proficiency, and was unable to read road signs.
“We don't just talk the talk,” Uthmeier remarked. “We're gonna use every legal tool at our disposal to fight back and protect our citizens.”
In addition to the subpoenas, Uthmeier's office has reached out to authorities in Washington and California. The aim is to investigate how Singh obtained his Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and to assess the licensing of undocumented individuals.
Uthmeier noted, “There's no way he went through the proper training,” condemning sanctuary states for their policies. He reaffirmed Florida's commitment to addressing such issues.
The announcement was made in conjunction with local law enforcement, with Uthmeier acknowledging the sheriff's efforts to combat crime affecting families.
