SUV Driver Killed in Indianapolis Crash with Pickup Truck

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A driver of an SUV died following a collision with a pickup truck Wednesday afternoon on Madison Avenue, just south of the I-70 underpass.

The crash occurred around 2:45 p.m. in the 1700 block of Madison Avenue, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD). Preliminary investigations suggest the SUV, traveling southbound, lost control and struck a northbound pickup truck. The SUV driver sustained critical injuries and later died at a hospital. He has not been identified pending notification of family.

A female passenger in the SUV and the pickup truck driver were reported stable and were taken to a local hospital. Their identities were also not disclosed.

Authorities indicated that impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.

No lane closures were reported, and it is unclear if any vehicles were towed from the scene.
